Beginning in 1999, FM Research and several other respected organisations conducted extensive studies examining the potential long‑term effects of circumcision. Their work explored how different degrees of tissue removal may influence both physical and psychological outcomes over the course of an individual’s life.
Research suggests that there may be a relationship between the amount of specialised penile tissue removed and the level of impact experienced later on. In many regions, infant circumcision remains variably defined, with procedures sometimes involving the removal of 20–80% of the specialised skin system. Until the law is dramatically changed in Europe, the USA, and Canada it is unlikely that neonates and Infants will have the right to remain in possession of their own body parts.
